Samsung just showed off its new concept for a modular TV at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016. This new concept shows promise for a great leap in television technology. This leap will allow many new amazing features to become a reality.
What is a Modular TV and What are the Benefits?
Having a TV that is modular means that the TV is actually one large screen made up of multiple smaller screens. This has many amazing possibilities like putting on a really cool show (like they did at the convention) where the screens are moving around and combining in different shapes and numbers of screens. Another possibility is to combine a bunch of the screens together to create much larger screen, like they did at the show, where they made a 170 inch screen. This is a major benefit for when people want to have large televisions shipped. They can just have them broken into their smaller parts, ship the smaller parts then assemble them at their home.
The Sad Truth
This is still only in the conceptual/prototype stage. This means that we probably won’t be seeing any modular TVs soon.
