Emerge Interactive has recently unveiled an amazing new concept. This concept is like a tattoo but you can constantly change the design and even visibility of it. All from your smartphone. This could revolutionize the industry. This concept is the first ever electronic ink tattoo.
How Will It Work?
This video doesn’t explain too much but you get a good feel for how it works from a very non-technical point of view. Sadly the reason this video doesn’t go into too much detail is because this product does not exist yet. The Emerge Interactive website goes into an immense amount of detail about how it works, using subdermal implants to have the ink solution beneath your skin. This can then be controlled via bluetooth by sending a current through, which is very similar to OLED. Sadly if you scroll past everything they say, which includes them saying that the product will be released in a couple months, there is a disclaimer:
So although their sentiment is great, their entire post was a lie. One meant to spread hope, but what would spread the most hope would be to actually create the product.
Where Can You Learn More About The Electronic Ink Tattoo
You can learn more about the development of this concept on the Emerge Interactive website. Unfortunately it is only concept at this stage.
Comments and Opinions
A friend of mine actually sent a link to the above video to me the other day and said that I should write about it. When he showed it to me I thought it was an amazing idea. I actually got really excited because I have always found tattoos to be very interesting and expressive, but I have seen too many that have ended poorly. This coupled with the fact that if you have them, it can be seen as bad thing when it comes to business. I know that above I pointed out that this product does not exist, but imagine for a second that it does. The introduction of this product would create many opportunities for people who wish to turn their body into a work of art but do not want to miss out on job opportunities because of it. Additionally, the ability to physically have constant and automatically updating data on your person could be very beneficial. It would also create jobs for designers who are good with computers but not as good with a needle. These are just a few of the amazing possibilities that this offers. If you think, like I do, that this could be an amazing product we should push for Emerge Interactive to actually create an electronic ink tattoo.
