A couple of days ago reddit.com started an Ask Me Anything (AMA) with Stephen Hawking to discuss his views on the future of Artificial Intelligence and for people to ask questions regarding the subject. Unlike other AMAs, this one will not be live. It will be in a comment fashion, where you post your question and then Professor Hawking can answer them at his own pace.
The Future of Artificial Intelligence
Many of the questions posted on the AMA contain different opinions on the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Some opinions include what is portrayed in movies like iRobot and Terminator but others see AI as a way to improve human life. If you have not seen these movies they depict a race of robots controlling human life and squashing free will.
The article states Professor Hawking’s opinion, that no matter where this road takes us, the people in charge of guiding it should keep human interest at the forefront of their objectives. This, I believe, is the best that we can hope for at this point in time.
